Why Donate?

Why should you donate?
The Stoic Relief Foundation wants to build a Family Recreation Center in Highlands County. Statistics show that they tend to help lower crime rates by encouraging people to get involved in the community they live in. This Recreation Center will focus on higher levels of education and encouraging families to grow and serve their community. It will provide activities for those involved to become part of a better system for education and ultimately a better life for all. According to Neighbor Scout, an online publication, an overall lower education showed an increase of crime in most counties across Florida. According to CLRSearch.com, the Florida crime index is higher than the United States average crime Index. We believe we can improve Florida by setting up a Recreation Center locally that will give people a chance for better guidance for life making skills. We believe investing in people is investing in our future.
The Stoic Relief Foundation is not trying to change the world as a whole, but merely trying to solve some local problems and help where we can and to make life better for all that live here. In order for us to do this we need your help.

How much is my stuff worth?
The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires donors to value their items. To help guide you, Stoic Relief Foundation has compiled a suggested list with price ranges for items commonly donated. Assume the following items are in good condition, and remember—prices are only estimated values.

Determining the Value of Donated Property (IRS Pub 561)
IRS Publication 561 defines “fair market value” and helps donors and appraisers determine the value of property given to qualified organizations. It also explains what kind of information you must have to support the charitable contribution deduction you claim on your return.

Documents Required for IRS
Property worth $500 or less: You must justify the deduction with the receipt provided by Stoic Relief Foundation. The receipt should include the donor's name, address, date, and a list of items donated.
Property worth more than $500, but not more than $5,000: In addition to the receipt provided by Stoic Relief Foundation, you are required to complete IRSForm 8283, "Non-Cash Charitable Contribution." This form will contain written records of how the property was acquired, and your cost basis if the property was held less than 12 months. Also, if you are claiming an item worth $500 or more, you must have the item appraised, and save the certificate of appraisal with the receipt in your tax records. Appraisals should be done before items are donated and payment of the appraisal is the responsibility of the donor.
A single item valued at $5,000 or more, or several similar items donated in a single year whose value totals $5,000 or more: This donation must be appraised before the donation is made, and the appraisal must be obtained by the donor. Stoic Relief Foundation does not perform appraisals on any donations.

Valuation Guide for Stoic Relief Foundation Donations
Your continued support makes our good work possible. Your donations are resold two raise money for stoic relief foundation programs or are re-donated/given to something worthwhile (example #1) a library closes and donates all their books to us and there is a local school that is in need of books we would give that school the books donated to us by the library to them. (example #2) let’s say that there was a natural disaster and a lot of people were left homeless and all of their stuff was destroyed and we have a lot of donated clothing on hand we would find a way to get that stuff to them.
The Value Guide below will assist you in determining the tax-deductible value of any items you are donating to The Stoic Relief Foundation. You will see that the table includes low and high estimates of value. Please choose a value within this range that is in keeping with your item's relative age and quality. If you have questions, contact us and we will assist you.
